It has been revealed that a Metal Gear Solid movie is now in the works, which is being handled by Sony’s Columbia Pictures and directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein. The duo is known for their work on Final Destination: Bloodlines.
The news comes from an exclusive by The Hollywood Reporter.
This would be the first time we’ll be getting a Metal Gear Solid film. The video game series created by Hideo Kojima is a stealth combat game series with sci-fi and spy features.
“Metal Gear Solid was nothing short of a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece that forever revolutionized video games. We are thrilled and honored to bring Hideo Kojima’s iconic characters and unforgettable world to life,” Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky stated.
Video game adaptations are a huge trend right now, whether it’s live action or animated. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie reached over $372M in its first five days of release at the worldwide box office. We also have The Legend of Zelda film coming next year, along with Sonic 4 and others.
A release for the Metal Gear Solid movie has not been mentioned yet. It’s clearly still in the early parts of its planning.
